I have a little less than a month to move into my new place, and I have no furniture. Plus, I have no money to buy furniture. And since I'm currently debt-free, this does not bode well for my future financial security. Relations are strained with my mom, whom I'm very close to. And my car insurance was due TODAY and I forgot to mail the check. I had a total meltdown a few hours ago.
Shit.

as ridiculous as it sounds, sometimes the thought of taking on debt when you've previously been debt-free is a little more daunting than adding to the existing pile of bills.
ReplyDeletedoes that make any sense? i feel that way, being debt-free [for the most part].
technically i'm not since i have student loans and a mortgage, but i generally consider the revolving stuff the problem.

ReplyDeleteI hate Such days.....Sorry to hear about your mom and U....Hope everything works out well for U..
ReplyDeleteGirl it's just part of a cycle. With good comes a little bad. You'll be okay. Send the check out tomorrow morning, you'll be okay. As far as furniture, just don't overwhelm yourself with it. Buy one piece at a time. Shop around for deals. Make it fun, instead of a pain in the ass. If people gotta chill out on the flo' for awhile, so be it.
ReplyDeleteAs far as yer mom, that will work itself out too. Family is family and if you love each other, just be patient with it.
As a friend told me just recently, something very simple but so true:
"Just breathe. Don't try to figure out everything all at once."

Use this as a time to maybe go the minimalist route with furniture. Try it out and see if you like it. Just get a couple of pieces, don't fill the space totally.
ReplyDeleteI find it rather fulfilling to reduce my "stuff" sometimes.
free stuff in cinci:

the yahoo ones, you have to join through yahoo, but all the stuff is free.
hope this helps! Don't worry, you can do it! if you're debt free because you've never had revolving credit, a furniture store usually gives interest free payments for a long time, and keeping up with it does good things for your credit.
Dawn, you're a doll!
ReplyDeleteLauren, it's just that i feel your pain, i have no dresser right now, and have been scouring these for a free one. Rachel is giving me one, but you never know what you can find!
ReplyDeleteThis too shall pass...
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting and crazy right now for you, isn't it?
Here's the essentials for moving in:
- foamie and bedding
- lamp
- table or box and one or two chairs
Then you can have fun building it from there. I use credit cards too much to give you any financial advice...
